Aaron Lane is a Senior Lecturer in Law in the Graduate School of Business and Law at RMIT University and Senior Research Fellow with the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub. Aaron commenced his legal career in private practice and maintains a part-time practice as Special Counsel with Duxton Hill, advising on matters involving fraud, misconduct and financial crime. In 2022, Aaron was a Visiting Scholar at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University in the United States.
Aaron’s academic research is focused on the relationship between regulation and innovation – with a current focus on the law and economics of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. Aaron is the co-author of three books and regularly publishes in peer-reviewed journals, with recent research appearing in publications including the Harvard Negotiation Law Review, the European Intellectual Property Review, Frontiers in Blockchain, and the Monash University Law Review.
